The participants came from England, from Belgium, from
Stuttgart, and from other exotic places such as Obertürkheim . The
evening was well spent with checking out the local wines, champagnes, and
such, from the local vineyard where we stayed. From there it was only one
floor up to the bedrooms, tastely decorated as far as we were able to make
out.
| On Saturday we visisted Trier, the oldest city of Germany, where the famous "Porta Nigra" is found. (and famous statues in front of famous castles) |

After a trip on one of these socalled "Tourist trains" and a little lunch we separated into small groups to browse around the town. Amazingly we bumped into each other all the time, indicating that the town isn´t so big, after all. A photo session with our A.S.S.-T-Shirts was unavoidable after we met again. |
The way back to our place offered the chance to visit
a local "Straußenwirtschaft" (similar to swabian "Besenwirtschaften"),
where some unnamed member of our valued company tasted for the very first
time in his life a "Schmalzbrot", an experience he swore never to repeat
again in his life.
The evening ended with a wine tasting "at home".
Under the influence of the various tastes we started doing
limericks. One is proudly presented here:
| The Sunday then started with being rather
wet; thus enforcing a prolonged breakfast. Afterwards we made our way to
Bernkastel on the river Mosel, a very picturesque town,
boasting a castle ruin, to which we immediately climbed up. |

It was a kind of optical illusion as it looked very near, but turned out to be miles away, and very steep going, in fact. Nonetheless, we were rewarded by a great view, and we were allowed to go down again, for a much needed meal. |
This about ended the A.S.S. weekend, we we all made our
different ways back to where we came from.
There´s nothing left than to thank the organization
team (Jane and Elke) for the enjoyable time. This is done with another
limerick; an interesting mixture of english and german as fits the clubs
purpose:
